Seminar for online teaching of clinical medicine courses
In order to further implement the plans of online teaching of clinical medicine courses and ensure the quality of online teaching, the college's Teacher Education Development center and Teaching Affairs office, according to the conditions of online teaching of clinical courses in the past three weeks and the special characteristics of clinical courses, have formulated a preliminary design and implementation plan of online teaching of clinical courses in Medical College. On the evening of March 6, the medical college organized and held an online teaching workshop for the directors and secretaries of some teaching and research departments of various clinical teaching units. Professor Ma Jie, director of Teacher Education Development Center, presided over the meeting, and Professor Gong Aihua, Vice Dean of medical college, participated in the discussions.
First of all, Professor Ma Jie interpreted the preliminary plan of design and implementation of online teaching classroom in Medical College in details. The plan suggested online teaching of clinical courses, and classroom design implement a hybrid online teaching mode based on PBL of clinical cases. Before class, the teachers were to prepare a number of clinical cases consistent with the content of the course and distribute them to the students in advance. The students are to be divided into groups to discuss the PBL case study. The teacher, supervises the discussion process of each group, and then the group leader summarizes and makes a PPT report. In the class, the teacher arranges 2-3 groups to report and discuss for about 45 minutes. Then the teacher summarizes the report and case discussion, and explains the key and difficult points of the course content. After class, the person appointed as a recorder should improve the discussion report according to the teacher's comments and summary submit the report PPT and discussion report. All students should complete the test questions assigned by the teacher and expand their reading tasks.
After that, the directors and secretaries of the Teaching and Research section of Internal Medicine, Surgery, Diagnostics, General Surgery, Neurology, Dermatology and Venereology, Ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology, etc. of the Affiliated Hospital of Jiangsu University and the Affiliated People's hospital held a fruitful discussion, made positive suggestions and agreed that the hybrid online teaching mode was in line with the characteristics of clinical courses and can be implemented, which is conducive to improving students' participation, training students' clinical thinking and ensuring the quality of online teaching. At the same time, they also put forward specific problems in the implementation of the plan, such as the grouping of students, reasonably allocating class hours, participating in students' PBL discussion, the coverage of the program, the reasonable allocation of online education resources and submissions of discussion reports and other common problems. Vice President Gong Aihua gave detailed answers to the above common problems.
Finally, Professor Gong Aihua encouraged the clinical teachers to tackle the difficulties, do a good job in online teaching, care for students, contribute to the medical education of Jiangsu University, and contribute to the fight against the new cronavirus epidemic.
