On the 1st and 2nd June, 2015, the 12th Simulated Academic Conference was organized in our University. A group of postgraduate students (Francis Kumi, Ransford Opoku Darko, Eric Amoah Asante, Ikram Ullah, Enock Andrews Duodu,Ahmad Azeem, Alsharaf Mahmood and Qaiser Javed) were tasked to prepare and represent OEC at the conference. They were to compete with sets of Chinese students from other Schools and Colleges within the University. By the rules of the competition, the group agreed to allow six to finally form the team. Out of the six, four were to do the oral presentation.
On the 1st of June, fifteen posters were displayed and students were encouraged to vote. At the end of the day, the poster presented by the student of OEC College was adjudged the best. The following day (2nd June), six groups including the overseas students were given the platform to present their research to students and 6 panel of judges. The OEC group began the presentations on a very interesting topic – ‘FEEDING A HUNGRY WORLD USING EFFECTIVE PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES’. At the end of the day, the OEC students were declared winners with 91% average mark from the judges with a group from the medical/pharmacy having 90%. It was indeed keenly contested but students’ maximum preparation paid off on the day.
