On the evening of May 26, the 5th "MEDICAL SYNAPSE" academic forum of Jiangsu University was solemnly opened in the 210 academic lecture hall of the lecture hall group.
"MEDICAL SYNAPSE" is one of the annual brand activities sponsored by the International Medical Students Association (IMSA) of our university. It is an academic exchange activity in which overseas medical students (MBBS) come to China as the main body and Chinese medical students participate together. This forum still advocates students' independent topic selection, and encourages participating groups to carry out seminars of "Problem Based Learning (PBL)" and "Case Based Learning (CBL)", in which Professor Gao Jing, Dean of Overseas Education College, Professor Ding Jinyan, Dean of Educational Affairs Office, Professor Lu Xiaodong, Department of Basic Medicine of Medical College, and Professor Xu Xiao, Deputy Director of Basic Medicine Department, were invited to serve as academic judges. Postdoctoral and doctoral students studying abroad served as academic guidance. The participating teams introduced the human diseases such as hepatitis A, claustrophobia and Steven-Johnson syndrome in PBL and CBL modes. Some of the participating teams carried out investigation and research through original questionnaire design, which fully embodied the initiative of learning and enthusiasm for scientific research. The students not only produced exquisite PPT and skilled report, but also carefully prepared videos and designed performances, vividly showing the diversity, complexity and importance of research and conquering human diseases, which left an intuitive and deep impression on the audience. The judges commented precisely on the topics and performances of each group. The audience also asked questions enthusiastically. The interaction between the stage and the stage was frequent and the atmosphere was warm.
Finally, according to the scoring results, the first, second and third prizes were awarded on the spot. The team with the theme of "alcohol addiction and alcohol withdrawal syndrome " won the first prize of this activity by virtue of realistic topic selection and vivid display.
In his concluding remarks, Professor Gao Jing pointed out that student-centered seminar learning is conducive to the cultivation of abilities and can better help train talents. Since the "MEDICAL SYNAPSE" was held, it has played a very positive role in cultivating medical students' professional interest and improving their professional quality. Chinese medical students also actively participated in this forum, which not only embodies the platform and opportunities for Chinese and foreign students to live together, enjoy and create together, but also reflects the important practice of our university in promoting the construction of high-level, international and research-oriented universities.
