Recently, the finals of the 10th National College Students' Basic Medical Innovation Research and Experimental Design Forum and the 2024 "Belt and Road" International College Students' Basic Medical Research Innovation Design Forum successfully concluded in Guangzhou. A total of 10 teams of our School of Medicine participated in the finals of basic clinical, preventive medicine, interdisciplinary track and the Belt and Road International Forum. The university has won 2 gold awards, 4 silver awards and 4 bronze awards, and the number of awards has reached a new high in the previous competitions of our school, fully demonstrating the students' good spirit of rigorous scholarship, perseverance, courage to strive for the lead and courage to innovate.
The competition is sponsored by the Basic Medicine Group of the Joint Conference of National Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center of higher Education and the Collaborative Education Working Group of Basic Medical Innovation and Entrepreneurship of higher education and hosted by Sun Yat-sen University, and has been included in the national college student competition catalog recognized by the Ministry of Education. More than 40,000 medical students registered for the competition, and 876 teams, 3216 teachers and students, 258 guests and judges from 204 universities from 21 countries attended the finals, making the scale and number of participants the largest in history. The scale of the competition is unprecedented and influential, and the level of participating projects and the intensity of competition have been significantly improved compared with previous years.
