The Master Programme of Physiology in JiangsuUniversity was authorized by the State Academic Degrees Committee in 2006, and began to enroll graduate students in 2007. After years of construction, it has become a programme with strong teaching staff, advanced study level and multiple research areas. There are 5 master instructors, including 2 professors and 3 associate professors， and all of them have doctoral degree. Twenty one students have been enrolled into the programme and 11 of them have graduated and received master's degrees.
There are four main research fields in the programme: 1. Regulation of cell function with emphasis on the study of intracellular signal transduction networks; 2. Regulation of human body function in sports, mainly studying the physiological changes of the body during exercise and the related mechanisms; 3. Molecular physiology and molecular medicine, studying the physiological activity and the mechanism of disease s at the molecular level; 4. Toxicology, studying the toxic effects of some environmental pollutants on human body and the relevant preventive measures. In recent years, the teacher staff of the programme undertook a serious of scientific research projects, including four National Natural Science Foundation projects and one Natural Science Foundation project of Jiangsu Province. At present, four National Natural Science Foundation projects are taken place. Dozens of academic papers have published, including more than 20 SCI papers.
This master degree program of Physiology relies on the Institute of Basic Medical Research in Jiangsu University. The institute now has physiological function laboratory, cell biology laboratory, and molecular biology laboratory. The laboratories are equipped with computer recording system of biological signals, CO2 incubator, inverted microscope, fluorescence microscopy, inverted fluorescence microscope, high-speed refrigerated centrifuge, ultra-low temperature freezer, gel electrophoresis equipment, microplate reader, PCR instrument, real-time quantitative PCR instrument, and other dozens of sets of imported equipment.
